Welcome!

I’ve been working and leading for a long time now, and it never ceases to amaze me that there are folks out there that believe they are great leaders, when in fact they are not.

People walk around most days, quoting corporate buzz words, and stringing them together like popcorn on a Christmas tree, and they really feel as though they are leading something or someone. They shy away from having real development conversations, and just sit with their blinders on, and hope for the best. That is not leadership in my opinion!

Leading people is a gift, an art if you will, that seems to be dying out in this day and age. Everyone seems to be looking out for number one, and not caring to develop and lead those that report to them.

It baffles the mind, watching the “leaders” who will ensure that they coach or correct a person on someone else’s team, but will shy away from the simple and easy things that can be incorporated into one on one meetings, or just conversations in passing, that would help develop a direct report. They are so focused on themselves that it doesn’t even enter their minds!

This is where self development becomes so important. The person who is hungry to grow, and evolve in their career can dive in to self help books, online courses and even podcasts to grow themselves when they are not receiving what they need from their bosses.

In upcoming posts I will share with you some of the avenues I took in my self development journey that I think could be a great inspiration to you all.
